In Your Head - #15 Blaugust 2026
Inevitably I was going to mention getting a song stuck in your head. It's a fundamental force in music. There's been many songs over the years that were so catchy or the new hotness and I had to listen to them again and again. Here's one that crept up on me.
I started working from home during COVID. Because I was in my room instead of an open cubicle floor plan I had access to my own computer to play music while I worked. I was checking out new music faster than ever before. This song is from Alvvays's self titled album. I gave it a listen at some point, but didn't care for it too much and it didn't make the normal rotation.
A couple of weeks later I woke up with a song in my head. It was fuzzy and fractured and I could put my finger on what song it was. It was driving me crazy! Slowly over a couple of hours I remembered bits and pieces and assembled enough I remembered the name of the song. Oh, what relief! Hearing the song again I absolutely loved it. I'd say this experience made me like the album that I didn't really care for at first.
