On Eagle's Wings - #17 Blaugust 2026

I'm not quite sure where to start this post, but it's about religion. I don't go to church these days, but I had to attend when I was young. The elementary school I attended was run by the church which included going to mass one day a week (other than attending with my family on Sundays). As you can imagine, church is very long and boring for an imaginative young mind. Especially when you are going twice a week. There is plenty of music involved in a mass and there was one song I always found comforting.

On Eagle's Wings by Michael Joncas (Again, this a version of the song, but not the one I heard growing up)

It's a very calming song that would often get played while giving out Communion. The "terror of the night" part of the lyrics always stood out to me. I think the atmosphere of the church really helped this song leave an impression on me.
