To The Bridge - #3 Blaugust 2026
Some may consider this to be controversial, but here goes: I don't really care for the Beatles. I am not denying their influence. Their music just never really resonated with me. I don't love them and I don't hate them. I can't remember the last time I heard a Beatles song. I can remember one time the Beatles were played in my music class.
I had to be in elementary school at the time. I went to a Catholic school run by the church my family attended every Sunday. The music teacher was the same woman who played piano and sung during the masses. The lesson in this instance was learning the parts of a song and the example song the teacher chose was Love Me Do. After going over the song a couple of times it was time for a little test of our knowledge. Some of us were called to the front and given boards with the different parts of the song. The song would play and we needed to raise our board when our part of the song played. I got the bridge. And my teacher was pleased I identified the bridge correctly! To be honest, if you asked me to identify the parts of a song now I probably couldn't do it.
